Female Raccoon looking for Denning Sites
Female Raccoon are actively looking for denning sites inside structures and under decks. We are starting to see damage to homes and commercial property as we typically do this time every year (January/February). Raccoons (especially urban Raccoon) have very little natural predators, plenty of food sources and hiding places here in town. Females instinctively realize their young are much more vulnerable than they as adults are. For this reason, many raccoon will have their young in attics or other protected structures. Male raccoons do not make good fathers. They do not assist with raising the young, but they will fight over a denning location and sometimes kill the young. I believe this is another reason that female raccoon begin to search for protected denning sites. Raccoon are capable of tearing / chewing right through a perfectly good asphalt shingled roof to gain access to the attic. Our company alone (in the past 3 years) has seen this happen about 30 times. They are capable of putting a basketball size hole right through the roof. This causes major water damage in the structure below the hole! Raccoon damage may be covered under your homeowners insurance policy. We work with a number of restoration specialists to restore your home to it's previous condition once animals are removed. For raccoon, we typically will perform a no charge inspection (as long as no ladders are needed) to give you a flat rate for control that usually guarantees removal of the animal(s) from the structure. We usually (at least temporarily) seal the entry / exit points at conclusion of trapping to ensure that no further animals enter the structure, this is included in the flat rate. We also strive to educate the client about the animal(s) causing the damage and how to prevent this from occurring again. We can install chimney caps and vent guards to protect your home from future damage. So, when nature calls...Call When Nature Calls Pest Control!
